Waistrooss 5th edition... A success!

Published Mon 11 Jul 2022

This 5th edition of the Waistrooss regatta is now over and we may say that it was a real success thanks to all the volunteers!

Many thanks to the 7 referees as well who came from France and sometimes from quite a distance to regulate this event!

We finally had 28 boats participating, following the cancelation of Mittersheim and 4 boats who were forced to abandon because of a broken trailer.  We sincerily hope to see them next year!

The incredible crew from the SAAR 1885 club won for a second year in a row!
A 4x boat crew with Michael Leicher, Karl Reim / SRG Undine, Hans Gliem, Jochen Kubiniok
with an impressive time of 19:16 (real time) to accomplish the 5000m.

Congratulations!

Our best LIRC member was Jacopo Palma in a single seat boat, who did the race in 20:07 and got a 6th overall place taking into account the handicap.

Were also honoured :
- the best female crew, with Mona Kiessler and Anita Latz, from RV Treviris with a time of 21:04 and an overall place 14.
- the best male crew following the one who won the race, was boat nr 12 from SAAR 1885 with Frank Schütze/Hannoverscher RC, Rainer Krischel/SRG Undine, Patrick Gerundt, Dirk Bauer..
- the best mixed crew, with boat nr 5, Dagmar and Karsten Bach from the club of Saarbrücken.

And a very special applause for our youngest rower, Noah Hoffman from the Yole Hammoise club near Thionville, who only is 13 years old and did the 5000m alone in a single seat!

We have already published some pictures of the crews on our website.  Please view them using this link:

Our deepest thanks are going to all the participants, for their enthusiastic participation and good mood!

We hope to see all of you next year for a 6th Waistrooss edition!

Best rowing regards,

The LIRC Committee
